Kia Motors introduce with all-electric Niro EV crossover. The new electric car now sale in Korea while European sales of Niro EV to follow at end of 2018 & North America in Q1 2019. Company said “Niro EV is to be Kia’s second globally-sold electric vehicle after the Soul EV”.
Kia Niro EV exterior is based on Clean and High-tech design concept. There you see tiger-nose grille with integrated charging port, bearing a ‘de-bossed’ Niro logo, redesigned air intakes & new arrowhead-shaped LED DRLs combine with light-blue trim.
The crossover has slim character line, tapered rear windows & new five-spoke 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels with a diamond-cut two-tone finish with regenerative braking system. While the rear offer reshaped rear bumpers with similar light blue highlights & new LED rear lights.
Kia Niro EV interior echoing the exterior means dashboard got light blue trim while center console has shift-by-wire drive selector which is Kia’s first dial-style shift knob. Also, there is new mood lighting system illuminates both the center console & the shifter, here is six color option – white, grey, bronze, red, green, and blue.
Here is new high-gloss black & blue trim lines the doors. Kia Niro EV has same 7.0-inch HMI touchscreen but has EV feature. The new design of center console give more space & now Kia offer wireless smartphone charger.
Kia said “lamp is integrated into the top of the dashboard, with a light displaying whether the battery pack is recharging or fully charged when plugged in. This enables owners to quickly see the car’s charge status at a glance from outside the car.”
Also new design provide 2,700-mm wheelbase that means you have plenty legroom space, body is 1,805 mm wide and 1,560 mm tall, 4,375 mm in length & it offers 451 liters (VDA) which is more trunk space than many other plug-in and electric vehicles.
Kia Niro EV powered by high-capacity 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack that give 385 kilometers drive range on single charge with zero emission. There is 100kw fast charger that charge 80% battery in 54 minutes. Also, you have option of 39.2 kWh lithium-polymer battery pack that give range of up to 246 kilometres on a single charge.
The EV crossover give power to front wheels through a 204PS motor that producing 395 Nm torque from a standstill & acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds.
